An award winning director and model, Jason Steel runs East Bound Studios, where he produces, shoots and edits some of the hottest SL porn films right now.
Jason sat down with me for a fun little chat about his recent win at the SX awards, how he developed his style and his passion for film.

So, this year you won best scene at the SX awards right! Congratulations btw!
Jason Steel: I think it was best film lol
hehe, [checking notes], I definitely have it as best scene
Jason Steel: its cool lol. The fact is I finally won a award lol
it was a popular vote so you obviously did something right , and well deserved I think
Jason Steel: I appreciate that. I was hoping it was the movie you were in
haha, me too. It's the popular vote award, does that mean something different to if you were to have won the judges award?
Jason Steel: I think the popular vote is more important...it shows what the people like. I don’t know any of the judges and I don’t know what they look for in films
and that peer validation feels pretty good
Jason Steel: yea it does because for the longest I thought people didn't like my movies. I went through a lot trial and error projects on here. 30 films of bad quality. I lost so many sponsors
I totally know what you mean. So you experimented a lot, how did you settle on a style that's yours?
Jason Steel: well I always had the style since day one...nobody on here was making full length pornos...and I didn’t wanna be like everybody else. I wanted to make something that stood out from everybody and that was telling stories with my films. full length movies. I adjusted them over time
You're running Eastbound Studios and I know you have a for things under that. But you;re also looking to grow in a really interesting way right?
Jason Steel: so the way I set up my company. East Bound Comics is a corporation, and the umbrella of East Bound Studios...SirFilms...Eden Ent...and XtraOrdinary. I wanted to start promoting other companies doing what I am doing and possibly turn this into a real money making organization.
I love that you're thinking about ways to help other producers along. It’s one of the really nice things about SL porn, there are a lot of people that think about that
Jason Steel: yes always...i wanna bring more companies under it and have them sell they items in my stores
I know that as soon as I get my cute ass organized and shooting another short film or two I'll be happy for Nikiblonde studios to be involved
Jason Steel: oh hell yea, I would love to bring you into East Bound Comics
hehe, it'll happen for sure
So if you're anything like me you'll always be looking for models to work with but what are you looking for when you cast?
Jason Steel: so I try to be fair with everyone. Because I want everyone to feel accepted in my organization. But as I journey into making more quality films...the requirements have risen to be in my films
So definitely mesh bodies and good quality heads are a must have right?
Jason Steel: yes, definitely. At the end of the day...we are still trying to make money on here but it can still all be for fun
Being able to have fun is pretty important then?
Jason Steel: yes...I think that’s the intent of SL porn...to explore sexual desires outside of the real world. Half of the stuff on here...I would definitely not do in real life. Its an alternate reality
I can definitely relate though. I always get much better photos for a something like a hump day shoot if everyone is getting into it. If it's fun and hot and there's a lot of flirting during the shoot it definitely comes through in the end product
Jason Steel: yes, but I try to keep it professional with every model. I don’t roleplay much because I fuck a lot of married women on here a lot of times they don’t want their husbands to know
hehe, I know, you're very professional even when I am being a little bit naughty during a shoot
Jason Steel: lol yes, I do like it. But I remember when models would tell me how there are many perverts on here. Guys who do photos and be wanting to have sex with the models to get the photos, never understood that.
oh of course, so many. yeah me neither
Jason Steel: so I try not to be like them, straight business
And because lets be honest, it is not difficult to fuck an SL porn star. If you just act politely and flatter them you’re most of the way there already
Jason Steel: yea I know...but I do want them to understand that I’m trying to put money in their pockets with my stores

I like to help out anyone trying to start out in SL porn. Are there any tips you would give someone trying to get their start in SL Porn?
Jason Steel: yes...invest in your avatar
hard agree on investing in your AV!
Jason Steel: I have put so many models in my movies, veterans....first timers. A lot of people just wanting to try something new on here
Especially for the guys I would say. I get a lot of male models that get by on the minimum. The really good male models have really good avs
Jason Steel: yea I would like to work with more male models...but they are not as reliable as the women are and I can feel the jealousy sometimes

Jason Steel: I’m not a hater, I actually promote other guys work especially if its better than mines
oh no, I think it's all constructive feedback. Who do you think is out there in SL porn that might be the next big thing that we should all be looking out for?
Jason Steel: SirCler, one of my affiliates. Its not too many companies anymore

Jason Steel: I can’t really keep up with ppl because I was banned from flickr
I'm pretty sure that’s an achievement you unlock in the SL porn community. First flickr suspension, first flickr ban.

Jason Steel: yea so now you see why I didn't think people was liking my content
And it hasn't got any easier, I think we're all moving away from flicker in some way or another and it feels like the whole community is still trying to find another home
Jason Steel: I hope so
